The 80th HUNGER GAMES

 It was a brisk morning in District 10.I woke up at 10 a.m. sharp. I then got out of bed and set some water to a boil for my bath I would take later before the reaping. That’s right, It’s the morning of the day for the reaping of the 80th Hunger Games, the fourth Quarter Quell. Hello. My name is Tetharoe Vixen, I am 15 years old and this is MY HUNGER GAMES story…

      That morning I went out and fed the livestock and met my bestfriend, boyfriend, and most-likely future husband acording to all of d10, Riley. Riley Sutain, medium build, light brown hair, green eyes , strong (i should know… i’ve been in those arms enough), light skin. We’re the same age and have known eachother since birth. Me, im also a medium build except im very thin from a lack of food.i have dark brown hair and brown eyes… like my mother but i have the face of my father. My other bestfriend is Rose, Rose Priedos. She is dating my brother, Neoix Vixen. He looks like me but he’s a male of course. Me,Riley,Rose,and Neoix, they call us the 4 15’s.It’s kind of a joke to us.

     I was just going to start brushing my horse with Riley when Rose and Neoix came out hand in hand to help collect eggs. “Good morning Tetharoe,” Neoix nods his head,”Riley.” Riley gives a small wave and continues brushing Greystone, my horse. Rose and I both know that Neiox slightly dislikes Riley because Neiox feels like Riley is stealing me from the family. Neiox and Riley were best friends before me and Riley started dating but after that they grew apart because Neiox got upset because Riley ‘stole’ his sister. I find it completely strange because I’m always home… with Riley of course.

      After I finish my morning chores and eat breakfast, I take a bath and get dressed for the reaping. Neoix and I meet Rose and Riley at 1:45 to walk to the District Square.The reaping started at 2 p.m. sharp. Our district escort, Erella Scenifit , walked up onto the stage and proceeded to explain the fourth Quarter Quell which will have 4 tributes per district this year and showed a short video on Panem’s history. Next Erella goes to the globes full of the hundreds of District 10’s children’s names. “Ladies first!” says Erella.She slowly takes off her glove and digs her hand around in the girls’ bowl. Erella pulls out the first slip of paper. She reads the name slowly and carefully, “Rose Priedos.” My heart drops to my stomach before the words I’ve just heard can settle in my mind. Rose slowly walks up to the stage. I look over towards my brother and can see the tears welling up in his eyes. He was planning to propose to Rose this evening during dinner.Erella shakes Rose’s hand and proceeds back to the ladies’ globe. She pulls out the next slip of paper, the name on it reads, “Tetharoe Vixen!” I am going into the 80th Hunger Games.

      I slowly walk up to the stage and take my place next to Rose. I squeeze her hand tightly and find Riley’s eyes locked on me from the crowd. I see that he is also fighting back tears. I look towards Neoix and see the anger and hurt rising in his eyes as he just saw the two women he loves most in his life were just whisked away by the capitol. Erella walks over to the bowl full of male names. She fiddles around in the bowl for a moment and pulls out a slip of paper. She carefully reads the name,” Riley Sutain.” I go back to Riley in the crowd. I can see the fear in his eyes as he slowly walks up to the stage. I can hear the entire district gasp as all of this is also settling in their minds.Riley’s eyes are locked on mine as he walks up to the stage. I want to run to him with arms outstretched but I know that I must restrain myself. Wouldn’t want to look like a sobbing fool in front of the entire country.

      Erella shakes Riley’s hand and then proceeds back to the bowl full of boys’ names. She pulls out a slip of paper, and reads the name slowly and carefully, “Neoix Vixen!” I nearly pass out over the words that just came out of Erella’s mouth. I have to grab Rose’s hand to steady myself. Throughout all of the events that just happend, Rose is steady as a rock, no expression, you can barely see her chest rise and fall. I can’t quite tell where she is looking, as her blue-green eyes are hidden from my view behind her short blonde hair.We are all four rushed into the justice building to say our final goodbyes. After we say goodbye we leave and swepped onto a train.
